The first dendritic polysilane , methyl[tris(permethylneopentasilyl)]silane [(Me 3 Si) 3 ‐SiSiMe 2 ] 3 SiMe, has been synthesized starting from (Me 3 Si) 3 SiH and characterized by crystallography. The dendrimer comprises 27 Si 7 pathways and consequently exhibits UV absorption with greatly enhanced intensity over that of simple linear polysilanes of similar length.
