Treatment of copper( I ) acetate with Se(SiMe 3 ) 2 in the presence of tertiary phosphanes leads to the formation of clusters 1 and 2 . The crystal structures of these two clusters show that the CuSe frameworks are isomers, whose structures differ considerably as a result of different ligand shells. The Se 22 framework of 2 is shown on the right.
