A sandwich‐like structure , in which planes of closely packed C 76 molecules are interleaved with layers of S 8 rings, is formed by the fullerene‐sulfur adduct. C 76 (S 8 ) 6 (shown on the right). The structure of this compound has been studied by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. The results are consistent with a chiral C 76 molecule with D 2 symmetry.
