The computer‐generated structural model on the right clearly shows the interlayer microporosity ( V microp . = 0.12cm 3 g −1 ) of the covalently pillared γ‐zirconium phosphate ‐diphosphonate. Thus, this type of compound could be of interest as a molecular sieve or for shape‐selective catalysis. The pillaring was achieved by a simple topotactic reaction.
