The linear arrangement of the atoms in CO 2 also occurs, in most cases, in its anionic analogues NBN 3− and CBN 4− , as well as in the ions SNS + , PCS 3− , and PBP 3− that are analogous to CS 2 . Many of the findings and structures predicted by quantum chemical calculations have since been confirmed by crystal structure analyses. This should encourage the synthesis of additional isoelectronic analogues.
