An internal volume of approximately 1000 Å 3 is available in the permanent cavity of a new rigid host molecule (shown on the right). The holand was assembled in six reaction steps by the fusion of four cavities of two calix[4]arene and two resorcin[4]arene building blocks, which are connected by amide spacers. This host is expected to show novel complexation properties.
