The ionophoric properties of cyclosporin shed new light on its role in immunosuppresion : Cyclosporin transports Li + and Ca 2+ significantly faster than appropriate for their position in the series of alkali metal and alkaline‐earth metal ions, respectively. The migration of the picrates of these metals through a CH 2 Cl 2 solution of cyclosporin (which functions as a liquid membrane) has been examined.
