Reversibility is the salient feature of the photochemical solid‐state reaction of 1 to 2 . Prerequisites, however, are first that the compound is irradiated into the long‐wavelength flank of the absorption band of the chromophore (λ = 570 nm), and second that the product is not recrystallized before the thermal reverse reaction.
