To induce a cholesteric mesophase in a highly branched, liquid crystalline polymer, the terminal groups were functionalized with chirat 3,4‐bis(2‐methylbutoxy)benzoyl chloride . The product is depicted schematically on the right (branching groups: 3,4‐dihydroxybenzoic acid units; linear groups: 4,4′‐dihydroxybiphenyl groups).
