The structure hardly changes when the cluster [Ir 14 (CO) 27 ] − ( 1 ) is reduced to the dianion or oxidized to the neutral compound. The 14 Jr atoms form a trigonal bipyramid, which contains an Jr atom at the center of every edge (see picture). The terminal CO ligands cover the metal framework completely.
