Explosive in the solid state , the bis(η 2 ‐peroxo) complex 1 , which in solution is the active species in the epoxidation of olefins with [CH 3 ReO 3 ], could be characterized by X‐ray crystallography as the diglyme adduct 2 . Under catalytic conditions (excess of H 2 O 2 ), 1 is far more stable than in the free state.
