LiO interactions dominate the structure of 1 , a molecule that contains the MC and LiO functionalities suspected to play a role in superbases involving RLi and R′OM (M = Na, K, Rb, Cs). Compound 1 forms a tmeda‐coordinated tetramer with a central Li 4 O 4 cube, and its O atoms have tetragonal‐pyramidal coordination. This structure offers a possible explanation of the activation of organolithium compounds by alkali metal alkoxides.
