An unsymmetrical bridging Cp ligand is the striking structural element in 1 . Compound 1 can be considered as an intermediate of the reaction in which GeMe 2 Si(N t Bu) 2 attacks [Cp 2 Ni] as a Lewis acid, and inserts into the NiCp bond. The analogous Sn complex has a symmetric structure.
