An important intermediate en route to antikekulene is the C 30 H 6 hydrocarbon 1 d . A precursor for this intermediate is l a , which can be protodesilylated; but in contrast to 1 a–1 c , 1 d cannot yet be obtained in pure state. An X‐ray crystal structure of 1 c confirms the high symmetry of the compound.
