A phase transition in which the conductivity drops by a factor of 10 6 –10 8 within 2–3 K is triggered by the replacement of R 1 ,R 3 = CH 3 in the radical anion salts 1 by R 1 = CH 3 , R 3 = CD 3 and R 1 ,R 3 = CD 3 . This extreme change is in sharp contrast with the known minimal variations caused by secondary deuterium isotope effects.
