When Pd atoms are cocondensed with SiO in solid argon onto a helium‐cooled copper surface, [PdSiO] is formed. The IR spectrum and quantum‐mechanical calculations indicate a linear structure in which the Si atom is coordinated directly to the metal (ṽ(PdSiO) = 1246.3, ṽ(PdSi) = 375 cm −1 ). The bonding situation in PdSiO may be compared with that in transition‐metal carbonyl complexes.
