“Crown ether complexes with unusual coordination geometries” is an apt description of the dications of the title compounds. The Sb III compound has a pentagonal‐planar environment for the Sb atom, formed by the five O atoms of the crown and an axially oriented chlorine ligand. In contrast, the central atom of the Bi III dication (shown right) is surrounded by the O atoms of the crown in a distorted prismatic fashion, and the Cl atom and the N atoms of the CH 3 CN units each occupy a prism face.
