Tetralithiated species are formed as intermediates during the preparation of the tetra‐substituted derivatives of 1,1″‐biferrocene, which have now been prepared for the first time. Such intermediates react not only with Me 3 SiCl and MeSSMe, but also with sulfur and selenium, yielding as major products the tetrachalcogenides 1 . The chalcogenide atoms hold the ferrocene units together by S 2 or Se 2 bridges.
