Only irradiation with visible light is needed for the isomerization of the complex of the tetraanionic [Pt(P 2 O 5 H 2 ) 4 ] 4− ( 1 ) with the super helical form I of ϕX174‐DNA to the circular form II [Eq. (a) and (b)]. The reaction takes place without the direct binding of the reagent to the DNA and without the formation of high energy intermediates. Thus application in the imaging of other DNA structures is of interest.
