With the planned synthesis of thermally stable, mononuclear bis(carbyne) complexes and the subsequent CC coupling of the two carbyne ligands to give an alkyne, F. Filippou et al. have been able to fully confirm the mechanism of C 1 + C 1 ‐coupling reactions using tungsten complexes. This mechanism could also play a role in the CC‐coupling reactions of carbonyl‐with carbonyl‐ and of carbonyl‐with isocyanide‐ligands to give the corresponding alkyne ligands (see also Communication on p. 1167ff.).
