All six C atoms of dimethylenecyclobutene are coordinated to the metal atom in the title complex [Cr(C 6 H 6 )(CO) 3 ]. Thus the second isomer of the long‐known [(benzene)Cr(CO) 3 ] (the other is [(fulvene)Cr(CO) 3 ]) has been synthesized. Compound 1 reacts with trimethylphosphane not by addition to a double bond of the 3,4‐dimethylenecyclobutene ligand, but by ligand exchange.
