Anthraquinone can cope with the insertion of a CC unit into the interior of the molecule! This is demonstrated by the synthesis of the copper‐colored pigment “isopyrenequinone” ( 1 ), which, according to spectral and structural data, is not a heptafulvalene derivative, but must be regarded as a resonance hybrid with tropylium mesomeric structures. Compound 1 can be reversibly converted into the nonplanar bridged [14]annulenequinone 2 .
