Short WN and WO distances , as well as nearly linear WNC and W‐O‐Si units characterize the trigonal‐planar, slightly distorted coordination sphere of the W atom in 1 . Emerald‐green crystals of 1 are formed in very high yield on reduction of the chloro complex 2 in diethyl ether. Compound 1 is stable as a solid, but decomposes in benzene with a half‐life of 1 h.
