Vesicles prepared from modified lecithin lipids such as 1 are characterized by an increased, monthlong stability. The fluorination of the ends of the alkyl chains also makes these compounds suitable as excellent emulgators of fluorinated hydrocarbons. Owing to their low toxicity, they are of interest for the preparation of artificial membranes and as carriers of pharmaceuticals.
