A combination of two vinamidinium units and an interconnecting benzene ring characterizes the title compound 1 according to an X‐ray structure analysis. Although there is no delocalization of the positive charges over the whole indacene system, the blue compound absorbs at remarkably long wavelength (λ max = 630 nm).
