Isocyanide and chelate complexes have medical implications. Chelate complexes containing di‐ and triisocyanide could not, however, be synthesized in the past because of the extreme ring strain in the almost linear MC NR unit. With novel triisocyanide ligands ( 1 (sketched on the right), and (N(CH 2 CH 2 CH 2 NC) 3 ) an only slightly distorted octahedral complex of composition [(L)M(CO) 3 ] (M = Cr, Mo, W) was obtained.
