One of the best one‐dimensional small organic conductors is the perchlorate 1 (σ ≤ 677 S cm −1 ). The corresponding triiodide displays weak metallic conduction; the insulator transition at 45 K is distinctly lower than for TTF‐TCNQ. The donor, 1,3,6,8‐tetrakis(methylthio)pyrene is easily synthesized in large amounts.
