In the Fe ⊕ ‐mediated Meerwein‐Ponndorf‐Verley‐Oppenauer reaction in the gas phase the following is noteworthy: besides the conventional hydride transfer, an analogous methanide migration has been detected for the first time. In contrast, in the case of sterically crowded alkoxides such as 1 a β‐CH 3 rearrangement takes place.
