Annealing thoroughly mixed amounts of the oxides Na 2 O 2 and LiMnO 4 (Na:Mn = 2.8:1; Ag bomb, 580°C, 30d) results in formation of Na 10 {Li 2 [Mn v O 4 ] 4 } as blue‐green, orthorhombic crystals. Structure analysis revealed that the MnO 4 and LiO 4 tetrahedra are linked in a way previously unknown for metal oxides: chain‐shaped anions made up of six‐ and eight‐membered rings are linked through sodium ions.
