Deep‐violet cubic crystals of an 18e‐Ni o complex with two ethene ligands are formed when tris(ethene)nickel(0) is allowed to react with 1,4‐bis(2,6‐diisopropylphenyl)‐1,4‐diazabutadiene (see 1 ). The ethene ligands of this extremely reactive complex can be replaced, for example, by hexadiene and cyclooctatetraene. Attempted coupling of the two ethene ligands with the Ni atom to give a nickelacyclopentane complex failed.
