The bipyridine derivative 1 is a very promising catalyst . It was obtained by asymmetric syn‐thesis, is optically active, and accelerates the addition of diethylzinc to aldehydes. This re‐action affords good yields of product and proceeds with high asymmetric induction (up to 97% ee ).
