The d 9 Au II complex 1 is unambiguously mono‐nuclear . It was obtained by reaction of KAuCl 4 with two equivalents of 1,4,7‐trithiacyclononane ([9]aneS 3 ) in refluxing aqueous HBF 4 /MeOH (structure of [Au([9]aneS 3 ) 2 ] 2⊕ , 1 , at the right). The ESR spectrum shows a strong signal at g = 2.010 ( T = 77K) displaying clear hyperfine coupling. A delocalization of the positive charge of 1 over the ligands is presumably of only minor importance.
