PtPtClPtPt plus ligand —this epitomizes the structure of the cation of the title compound: cis‐[{(NH 3 ) 2 Pt(MeT) 2 PtCl 2 } 2 ]Cl 2⊕ ; MeT is thereby the anion of 1 ‐methylthymine. This novel mixed valence platinum(2.75) complex formally contains three Pt III centers and one Pt II center. A PtPt unit together with ligands and bridging chlorine atom is pictured on the right.
