The first polyoxomolybdates with an Mo II NO instead of an Mo IV O group are compounds 2 and 3 . They were obtained by reductive nitrosylation of complex 1 with hydroxylamine in methanol. Pentamolybdate 2 is transformed into hexamolybdate 3 upon dissolution, for example in CH 2 Cl 2 . The structures of both title compounds are derived from the Lindgvist structure [Mo 6 O 19 ] 2⊖ .
