Compound 1 should be regarded as the synthetic equivalent of. The SiN bond is quite easily cleaved, and so is the SiC bond. Thus, 1 rearranges photochemically to carbodiimide. Reaction with dipolarophiles at room temperature leads to the expected [2 + 3] adducts.
