Rietveld analysis of neutron powder photographs of zeolite Y containing p ‐xylene revealed an interaction of the methyl groups of p ‐xylene with the oxygen atoms of the zeolite cage. The p ‐xylene molecules occupy two crystallographically different positions in the supercage, one of which is shown in the picture on the right. Owing to symmetry, each type of position is present four times.
