Structurally elucidated organopotassium compounds are still very rare. A new example is the title compound, in which K⊕ is bonded in an η 5 fashion to the cyclopentadienyl ring and is coordinated by the O atoms of three THF molecules (not shown). The arrangement of the benzyl groups also allows the geometry around the potassium ion to be described as a trigonal prism capped on two faces by benzyl groups.
