Polymers containing metal atoms in the main chain are formed when 1 is heated in xylene. The average molecular weights of the polymers were found to be 24 000 (MMo) and 37 000 (MW) by viscosity measurements. Two major components ( M r = 11800 and 34 500) for M Mo and three ( M r = 11800, 34 500, 68 000) for M W were found by HPLC analysis using polystyrene calibration standards.
