The first anionic reagent for the introduction of the 16‐electron species Cp(CO) 2 Mn , the title compound 1 , was obtained by reaction of [Cp(CO) 2 Mn(thf)] with NaBH 4 . The Cp′ analogue of 1 (Cp′ = η 5 ‐MeC 5 H 4 ) reacts with BiCl 3 to give the complex 2 . This is the first complex with side‐on–coordinated Bi 2 involving a 3d metal center.
