An unusual tailoring to the “spatial requirements” of the cation in a crystal is observed with iodoantimonate( III ) anions. This is demonstrated by the synthesis of the salts [Cu(MeCN) 4 ] 2 [Sb 3 I 11 ], [Me 4 N] 3 [Sb 5 I 18 ] and [Cp 2 Fe] 4 [Sb 6 I 22 ]from SbI 3 and the corresponding iodide.
