Whereas organolithium compounds normally crystallize as contact ion pairs , in [fluorenyllithium·2 ethylenediamine] ∞ the cation and the anion are separated by solvent molecules. Especially noteworthy is the X‐ray crystallographic detection of NH ⃛C hydrogen bonds to a “naked” Carbanion. Since anion and cation interact with the same solvent molecules the solid‐state structure of the title compound can serve as model for a solvent‐shared ion pair.
