The first Ge 6 prismane 2 , which could be prepared in 12% yield as orange‐yellow crystals by reduction of the germanium trichloride 1 with lithium powder [Eqn. (a)], has proved to be unexpectedly stable towards atmospheric oxygen, moisture, although it partially decomposes upon heating to 200°C.
