α‐Elimination from 1 and thermal or photochemical cleavages of 2 produce t Bu 2 Si:, the trapping or subsequent products of which can be isolated in good to very good yields. The silanediyl generated from 1a by α‐elimination does not dimerize to t Bu 4 Si 2 , but instead produces the four‐membered ring compound 3 in 15% yield.
