Two η 6 ‐arenesodium fragments constitute a special feature of the structure of the deep‐violet title complex 1 . Furthermore the sodium atoms are each part of an NaO 2 Ti four‐membered ring. The Ti III centers are trigonal‐bipyramidally coordinated, whereby one apical position is occupied by the pyridine N atom. 1 is formed upon reduction of Ti(OR) 4 , R = 2,6‐Me 2 C 6 H 3 , with sodium amalgam and subsequent treatment with pyridine. The findings of this study can be of importance for explaining the poorly defined products which have previously been obtained in similar reactions.
