The prototypic areneobalt complexes 1–3 are formed upon reaction of 2‐butyne (R′CH 3 ) with benzene (R H)/cobalt and toluene (R CH 3 )/cobalt cocondensates ( 1, 2 ) and from toluene/cobalt cocondensate in the presence of acetonitrile ( 3 ).
