Stable Sandwich Complexes with Pentamethylpyrrole Ligands

The coordination properties of pentamethylpyrrole and arenes are similar; this was shown by comparison of the spectroscopic data and chemical properties of the pentamethylpyrrole complexes 1 and 2 with those of the corresponding arene complexes. Complexes 1 and 2 are accessible by reaction of the sulfane complexes [CpM(SMe 2 ) 3 ][BF 4 ] n (MFe, n1; MCo, n2) with pentamethylpyrrole.
