Complex fragments having metal centers in high oxidation states can be coupled with the linearly bridging p ‐phenylenediimido ligand. This is demonstrated by the Mo   2 VIcomplex 1 , which could be prepared from [MoCl 4 (thf) 2 ] and p ‐phenylene diazide. Complex 1 can be reduced stepwise to isolable Mo   2 V , Mo   2 IV , and Mo   2 IIIcomplexes. Of special interest in connection with the synthesis of new conducting materials is a Mo   2 IIIcomplex.
