Pale yellow, vivid blue, and brownish red ‐‐‐those are the colors of the CH 2 Cl 2 solutions of 1, 2 , and 3 , respectively. Compound 1 was obtained by thermal dimerization of the corresponding cyclopropenethione. The redox transitions 1⇄2⇄3 are reversible both chemically and electrochemically. This fact makes these compounds interesting for the development of electrochromic optical devices.
