A metal‐rich metallaborane (M/B > 1) , the title compound 1 , is formed in one step on reaction of the cobalt complex [CpCo(PPh 3 ) 2 ] with BH 3 · THF. A phenyl group migrates from phosphorus to boron. The new cluster [Cp 3 Co 3 PBPh 2 ] 1 is isoelectronic with [Cp 3 Co 3 C 2 R 2 ]; from the differences in structure it follows that 1 has polar character (R=e.g. Me).
