Complex 1, obtained as red‐brown, air‐stable crystals , is formed by cothermolysis of [Cp   2 * Ti(CO) 2 ] and P 4 ; its NMR spectra differ significantly from those of the triple‐decker complexes [(Cp * M) 2 (μ,η 6 −P 6 )] (M Mo, W, V). Complex 1 undergoes ready oxidation and ideal reversible reduction. Instead of a distorted cubane framework, the structure of 1 can be looked upon as a P 6 ring in chair conformation with two Cp * Ti “caps.”
